Looking to score cool threads at affordable prices? (Who isn’t?) Kohl’s is teaming up with Milly by Michelle Smith for its next DesigNation collaboration and it’s hitting stores this coming spring. The designer previewed the collection for editors today at the Council of Fashion Designers of America headquarters in Soho, and we were impressed by the bright, cheerful collection– everything you need to put a smile on your face for the new season.
A jaunt to Capri inspired Smith’s sunny collection. “The colors are all derived from the island,” she told us at the preview. “The Mediterranean Sea is so gorgeous, so there is a lot of cobalt, beautiful blues and pinks and florals.” She incorporated the stripes of beach umbrellas into tops, skirts and dresses. There is also a lemon print because she picked her own off trees while on vacay. “Everything is super personal about what I experienced during my trip,” she said.
Our favorite part: It’s not just for grown-ups. Smith designed two dresses for little girls. “My daughter came with me [to Capri], so I thought it would be really fun to do,” she said. The prints match pieces in the ladies collection. “Little girls love flowers and they love pink,” said Smith. “And they love to dress like their mothers!”
And don’t worry if you want more than one, two, or a bajillion pieces… each item will be priced at $100 or less when it arrives at Kohl’s stores in April.
