What it was like: The set was nothing short of spectacular. Hedi Slimane brought the bling through and through, from the set (a convoluted labyrinth of rainbow-reflective beams) to his parade of bedazzling rocker-chic designs of sparkly zippy dresses, sequined coats, and disco-esque navel-grazing tops.
Accessories, too, got the memo—glittery platforms and shimmery turbans were among the high-shine add-ons that shimmered down the catwalk. Why we love this collection: Sex bombs. Underground glamour. Slimane’s spring/summer 2015 line was a nod to ’70s France, with an undercurrent of something that was forbiddingly darker and sensual. Innocent enough pieces, like Parisian stripes and whimsical star-embroidered denim skirts, were coupled with slick zippered minis, gilded leather tux blazers, and studded accents. It wasn’t simply “girly-tough,” though. There was a touch of eclectic-ness, in large part due to the delightfully clashing printed skinny scarves and lush wide-brim hats. But it’s not like Slimane took liberties with the brand’s legacy—he dipped a finger into the Saint Laurent archives and resurrected the famous green fur evening coat from the spring/summer 1971 couture collection with a short fur topper.
