The runways of New York Fashion Week have already established that the minimalist manicure is the design of the moment, but thanks to the sparkly looks from Delpozo (left) and Erin Fetherston (right), you don’t have to kick your glitter habit just yet. Paired with a nude or natural nail base, even the gaudiest shimmer lacquers get a touch of class.
For the look at Delpozo, lead manicurist Julie Kandalec played with both the matte and negative space trends to create what she described as a “gold nugget” effect for the models. After a layer of base coat, the pro swept on Essie‘s Matte About You lacquer ($8.50; essie.com), then used a fine-tipped nail art brush dipped in Good as Gold ($8.50; essie.com) to add a thin metallic stripe down the center of each finger. A few dots of Rock at the Top ($8.50; essie.com) were applied over the gold line, and a swipe of top coat was layered just over the sparkly portion to amp up the shine, and contrast with the matte effect.Click through our gallery to see even more of our favorite New York Fashion Week manicures, including pro tips on how to try your own hand at the looks!
