When you’re a supermodel like Heidi Klum, chances are you have some stunning friends. But while kicking off fashion week at last night’s amfAR New York Gala presented by Harry Winston, Klum revealed that two of her closest pals are some serious dazzlers—literally.
“I have two friends with me tonight,” Klum said as she introduced the evening’s coveted item for auction, a pair of the jeweler’s 1.94-carat diamond Sunfower Cascading Earrings that she wore on stage. “Their names are Harry and Winston,” she joked, showing off the platinum-set earrings for which proceeds benefit amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research). Klum’s besties were a hit at the event, which was held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. The earrings, which total 54 round brilliant diamonds, sold for $50,000.
Even after her sparkling “friends” were auctioned off, Klum was still in good company. Among the stars supporting amfAR’s efforts to raise money for AIDS research, prevention, and education were Brooke Shields, Kendall Jenner, and Rosario Dawson, who was honored for her humanitarian efforts.
And the presence of one star in particular was enough for amfAR’s Chairman of the Board, designer Kenneth Cole. “I’m so excited that Jeremy Piven has officially joined the amfAR ‘entourage,'” Cole said, adding that hosting the event on the eve of New York Fashion Week “is a way for us to say thank you to the fashion industry, who continue to turn up for us everywhere in the world.
