Take Chanel’s Gilded Smoky Eye from the Pre-Fall 2015 Runway to Every Day

Though the covetable pieces from Chanel’s pre-fall 2015 show won’t be available for another year, the stunning smoky eye is one look we’re already eager to recreate—especially with a sparkle-appropriate event like New Year’s Eve on the horizon.

For the shimmery eye seen here on Cara Delevingne, makeup artists used the deepest hues from the Quadra Eyeshadow palettes in Tisse Riviera ($61; chanel.

com) and Intuition (available January 2015, try Reve d’Orient, $70; chanel.com) to sculpt out a thick, ultra-dark shape. To make this more wearable for everyday, we recommend substituting the inky black hue for a subtle grey or brown, and blend the color over your lids and into your crease. Dip a shadow brush into a loose powder to diffuse any harsh lines.

Backstage, makeup artists then picked up the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Or Blanc ($32; chanel.com) and swept the champagne color along the top lash line, while the Noir Intense shade  ($32; chanel.com) was blended along the bottom. The metallic effect was intensified by running a touch of gold shadow from the Intuition palette over the pale liner, and got topped off by a few coats of mascara. Those trademark Delevingne arches were given extra definition with Chanel’s Crayon Sourcils Pencil ($29; chanel.com), and a barely-there nude lip finished the look.
