It was a romantic comedy reunion at Spike TV’s 2014 Guys Choice Awards, where some of Hollywood’s greatest stars came together to pay homage to the year in “Guydom.” Former on-screen loves Keanu Reeves, Hugh Grant, and Matthew McConaughey gathered to present Sandra Bullock with the “Decade of Hotness” prize.
The actress, who looked stunning in a hot pink Roland Mouret minidress, happily accepted her Golden Mantlers with excitement and dismay. “This is an amazing slingshot for a 49-year-old. I’d like to thank every hairstylist and makeup artist for creating the illusion because I didn’t look like this a couple hours ago… I was in sweatpants and an ACDC t-shirt,” Bullock says. “I’m just one of the luckiest girls I know and three of the people I’m just so crazy about are right next to me.”Manly accents like giant moose heads decorated the event, while guests like Jessica Alba (in David Koma), Jaime King (in Emilio Pucci), Rosario Dawson (in Roksanda Ilincic), Rihanna, Aaron Paul, Andy Samberg, Mark Wahlberg, and Olivia Munn were served massive short rib pot pies and bottles of Guinness.
Chrissy Teigen, Lily Aldridge, and Nina Agdal and were also in attendance to accept the “Holy Grail of Hot” award which was given to them for their cheeky Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover, though Teigen noted that looking sexy takes a significant amount of work. “Hair and makeup usually take a bit of time. If we do both at the same time it takes about 90 minutes,” the model tells InStyle. “Honesty, if anything takes time it’s me getting up and answering the door for room service. Or, I need a bite of this snack, or to make another drink! I’m one of those annoying clients that gets up a lot.” Aldridge also chimed in about the great lengths of prepping for the red carpet. “I always go in thinking, ‘I’m just going to do a very natural look’—and then it’s four hours later. I’m like, ‘This isn’t very natural anymore.’”
Samberg, also one of the night’s honorees with the “Primetime” award, reminded us that the hilarious and unpretentious show is also heartfelt because it celebrates the men and women of the U.S. armed forces. “It is very important that the Guy’s Choice Awards honors the troops, and I’m glad that they do that,” Samberg say to InStyle. “I think that’s why a lot of cool, accomplished people show up to support.”
Watch the entire ceremony when it airs on Wednesday, June 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.
