Nothing feels quite as autumnal as rich shades of orange, especially pumpkin spice. There is moment in late October, early November where this color is literally everywhere you look. To pull it off in your outfit, first identify what colors best complement the hue.
Navy, bordeaux, creams, and camel are always a safe bet and are most likely basics that you already own. With any bold fall color you buy, texture is key. Stella Jean showed a cozy mohair jacket with a pumpkin spice block stripe (pictured at bottom, left) and what really stood out is the color combo of navy and soft blue.RELATED: #HowToWearIt: Suede
Once you identify the color pairings it’s easier to build out the rest of your look. If you want to go a little bolder in orange, wearing it for evening can be very striking. Opt for a matte satin giving the orange a bronzed effect and pair with warm gold accessories like Jessica Alba (at top). If you want to go brighter take a que from Lily Aldridge (above) and add a smaller piece like a silk camisole layered with a deeper jewel tone in the same warm seasonal family. The nice thing about wearing spicy oranges is there are a so many gradations of the shade to choose from making it easy to find one that plays against your skin tone. Of course you can always add just a touch with a chic accessory, the deeper the tone and richer the texture the better.
