It’s an age-old belief that, somewhere in the world, there’s somebody who looks exactly like you. For Sarah Hyland, this doppelgänger not only lives in the same town, but she works in the same industry. It’s no big secret that the pint-sized Modern Family star bears a striking resemblance to That ’70s Show vet Mila Kunis.
Even though the actress is eight years Hyland’s senior, and of Ukrainian ancestry (Hyland is a mix of Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, Dutch, and German), the physical similarities between the two brunettes are almost uncanny. After the 23-year-old confessed she gets called Mila by fans on the regular, she discussed the moment in which they finally met: at a Nylon party in 2010, a couple of months before the Golden Globes when Kunis was nominated for Black Swan. “She came up to me and said she gets called me all the time too,” Hyland told InStyle. “She said that sometimes she pretends she’s me because it makes her feel young. I asked if I could pretend to be her next time somebody asks me if I’m her, and she said OK.”

Fast-forward two months later, and Hyland’s walking the Golden Globes red carpet when she hears a foreign news outlet scream “Mila!” at her and begin firing off questions about Black Swan. “I saw two roads I could go down,” she said with a laugh. “One was to tell the reporter they had the wrong person. The other—and I was so tempted to do this—was to scream, ‘Natalie Portman’s a bad kisser!’ But I knew it would be trouble, so I didn’t.” Next time you spot one of these two ladies IRL, we recommend doing a double take.
