Riccardo Tisci Taps Donatella Versace to Front Fall 2015 Givenchy Campaign

By: Jonathan Borge

It requires a insurmountable level of bravado for a woman to throw on and successfully model Givenchy. Those who’ve embodied the requirements include Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Madonna, Beyoncé, Marina Abramović, and Ciara. But the latest member to join the untouchable crew comes from withing the LVMH family: It’s none other than Donatella Versace.

Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci, took to Instagram this morning to post a photo of himself and the unmistakable Donatella from the house’s fall 2015 campaign. In the image, shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Carine Roitfeld, the two designers face away from each other and are seen in profile; Tisci wears one of his signature plaid shirts and Donatella dons what is likely a frock from the fall collection.

“So proud and honored to introduce my new ultimate icon: Donatella Versace. FW15 Family Campaign. MORE TO COME SOON!” he wrote in the post’s caption. Though undoubtedly iconic, the pairing is an unlikely one considering Donatella herself is emblematic of the Versace brand. However, both Givenchy and Versace are owned by fashion and luxury group LVMH, and similar campaigns have recently surfaced (think Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld appearance in Louis Vuitton’s 160th anniversary celebration).

Tisci is known for issuing notable creatives to front Givenchy’s campaigns—Julia Roberts is the current star—so we’re excited to see who else fits the house’s family mold.
