Forget boys—Taylor Swift’s one true love is the Big Apple!
The pop star released her next song off of her upcoming album 1989 titled “Welcome to New York,” and as you might guess, it’s an ode to her newly adopted hometown. Following last week’s release of “Out of the Woods” and her mega-popular dance anthem “Shake it Off,” it looks like 1989 is shaping up to be another smash hit for the pop star.
“I started the album with ‘Welcome to New York’ because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years,” Swift said in a press release.
“It’s like an electric city, and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism. I saw New York as a place of endless potential and possibilities and you can hear that reflected in this music and in this song.”RELATED: 5 Things All Single 20-Somethings Can Learn From Taylor Swift in the November Issue of InStyle
On the track, Swift croons about what New York means not just to her, but to the millions who call the city their home: “Everybody here wanted something more/ Searching for a sound we hadn’t heard before/ And it said/ Welcome to New York/ It’s been waiting for you …”
