Celebrities, animal lovers—and a few animals themselves—stepped out last night for ASPCA’s 18th Annual Bergh Ball honoring actresses Hilary Swank and Edie Falco. Hosted by Lake Bell and Isaac Mizrahi, the night started with speeches by the honorees (both wearing Christian Siriano, who donated a custom gown to the auction) in the grand ballroom at the Plaza Hotel in N.
Y.C., followed by a three-course dinner, an auction, and ended with a musical performance by Chelsea Leyland and Sarah Charness. The ASPCA, or American Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals, raises awareness and funds for abused and neglected animals across the country, like those that Swank and Falco cuddled with at the event.RELATED: Hilary Swank Talks Fashion at Hamptons Film Festival
Swank, who has two rescue dogs, loves animals so much that she started her own charity, Hilaroo, named after her and her late dog, Karoo. “I’m just getting it on its feet, but it brings children who’ve been given up on and animals who’ve been abandoned together to heal each other,” the Homesman star told InStyle. “They need us. They need people.”
