As a prolific fashion illustrator and all-around professional ’grammer (not to mention, InStyle’s preferred artist), Donald “Drawbertson” Robertson and his witty Insta-artworks have charmed everyone from the fashion set to the A-list crowd.
But when he’s not profiling Kim Kardashian or other major pop culture icons, the real star of his ’grams is Mitford, the fashion-obsessed giraffe who has quickly garnered a fan base of his own.
Since his humble baby beginnings on Instagram, Mitford has gone on to grace J. Crew’s kids tees and more recently, the walls at French boutique Colette during Paris Fashion Week, and now, he’s getting his very own book: Mitford at the Fashion Zoo.RELATED: Illustrator Donald Robertson’s J. “I created this book for childish adults that love fashion and for all the sophisticated kids today who are early adaptor chic freaks,” Robertson tells InStyle. “Mitford crashes a designer party and manages to somehow not get kicked out. We are all Mitford at heart.”
The 40-page fashion parody kid-lit follows Mitford as he lands his dream job at a fashion magazine, befriends fabulous diva characters like Panda Summers, Zap Possum, Shark Jakobs, and Mikael Boars, and saves fashion week from disaster. The book, which will retail at $18, doesn’t hit shelves until Aug. 11 (or, in his words: “Coming soon to a fashionista near you!”), but we got an exclusive peek at the cover (pictured, top).
