It was all about the kids Monday night, as A-listers like George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Tom Hanks took the stage at the SeriousFun Children’s Network Gala in New York City to perform alongside campers from the charity that benefits children living with serious illnesses. And a success it was: the evening raised more than $1.
5 million for SeriousFun Children’s Network, which will benefit its 30 camps and programs around the world.Clooney—who was clad in a two-piece suit with a blue tie in the charity’s signature color—excitedly greeted the children and introduced himself to starstruck youngsters before posing for photos with his plus one for the evening: Danny DeVito. So does the actor, who recently wed beautiful barrister Amal Alamuddin, want children of his own? “Nice … good try!” he laughed to InStyle before heading inside Avery Fisher Hall to prep for the performance.

Aloe Blacc, looking dapper in an Armani ensemble, performed three songs at the gala and explained why he was so excited to be involved that evening: “It’s special for me to be here because my goal with music is to use my voice for positive social change so this is one way,” he shared. “Offering my songs and my time to this beautiful charity started by Paul Newman is a small token that I can give in the big grand scheme of helping in the world.”
