Designer: Vera Wang
Location: 545 W 22nd Street
Notable guests: Anna Chlumsky, Estelle
What was it like: As Wang wrote in the show notes, spring/summer 2015 is a mashup of “boyish boudoir” and “baby bohemian.” This translated into an explosion of textural, embellished, ruffled, ruches, and pleated looks.
Each model entered the runway through an ornate backdrop covered in black roses, with a moody soundtrack by Frédéric Sanchez. The vibe carried over to the hair and makeup as well, with models sporting messy waves, scattered braids, and smeared violet shadow under their eyes. Why we love this collection: Wang infused dreamy bridal moments—like tulle and pleated chiffon—into this decidedly modern collection. The mostly black lineup got a jolt of femininity thanks to floral prints and Swarovski crystal embellishment. We especially loved the designer’s romantic take on evening—diaphanous double-layer gowns with a chic (and practical) added bonus: pockets!
