It looks as though sweaters just got promoted to eveningwear status. For fall/winter 2015, designers at London Fashion Week are re-defining formal attire by grounding fancy floor-length skirts with matching turtleneck knits.

Matthew Williamson reached for the sky and sent out a billowing maxi skirt with celestial-inspired swirls, picking up on the dreamy atmospheric shades with a chunky turquoise high-neck sweater (above, left). Designer Erdem Moralioglu wrapped up his fall/winter 2015 collection with two exquisitely textured floral evening skirts, both coupled with a complementary knit (center). And Osman Yousefzada took the monochromatic route with a slinky siren-red satin skirt, neutralizing the shine and the risk of blatant sex appeal with a covered up fiery red T-neck (right).
Finally, an evening look that can withstand the cold.
