As engagement season kicks into high gear, here’s something for all brides-to-be to keep in mind: Mad Men’s costume designer Janie Bryant created a wedding shoe. The pump style with a blue bow on the heel ($269) is one of seven styles she created for her collaboration with Shoes of Prey, a footwear brand that specializes in customizing every single aspect of shoe design.
“So many brides ask me about how to incorporate something blue and it really inspired me to design a shoe with that beautiful blue detail,” Bryant told us when she came by the New York InStyle offices to preview the collection. “And I love the colors—both white on white and the blue bow detail on the back. It’s so dramatic and pretty.”
She suggests wearing it with a tea-length dress (like for rehearsal dinners), with a pantsuit for a non-traditional bride, or with a tried-and-true white gown. “There’s a surprise at the back, no matter what you pair it with,” said Bryant (shown below with Shoes of Prey co-founder Jodie Fox).
And you can truly make it your own. Because collaborator Shoes of Prey is known for its customization, you can tweak any aspect of the design: Make it open-toe, change the color of the bow, lower the heel height, and more.
