Paris Fashion Week is heating up, and InStyle’s Fashion News Director Eric Wilson and Style Director Melissa Rubini are bringing us the latest installment of Back of the Cab in the midst of attending runway shows. This time they provide their reactions to the Christian Dior spring/summer 2015 collection that was a striking experience all in itself.
White, black, and careful touches of color created the lineup, which relied heavily on tailoring and included a unique assortment of silhouettes.“Guests entered an amazing space set up in a courtyard at the Louvre Museum, where a giant tent was enclosed entirely in mirrors so it reflected the facade of the museum back at them,” Wilson says of the fashion event. “Raf Simons (the label’s creative director) combined modern shapes with fashion history in this collection.”
“Monsieur Dior was obsessed with Marie Antoinette and that was a way for Raf Simons to celebrate the heritage of the brand and bring the historic moment,” Rubini adds. “Also, the collection looked very modern and fresh. it didn’t have any weight of history in it.”
