It was a whirlwind weekend filled with runway shows, and our editors were on-hand for all of the biggest fashion moments. InStyle’s Fashion News Director Eric Wilson, Fashion Director Cindy Weber-Cleary, and Style Director Melissa Rubini filmed our latest installment of Back of the Cab at New York Fashion Week.
After attending Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, and Diane von Furstenberg’s spring/summer 2015 shows on Saturday and Sunday, the trio couldn’t wait to share their thoughts on the looks that hit the catwalk.Altuzarra—whose collection featured dangerously high-slit gingham dresses and re-worked ball gowns—was definitely a favorite amongst the group. “It was the best show so far,” Weber-Cleary says of Altuzarra’s collection. “It was beautiful, so feminine, effortless, totally polished. I loved the suits in the beginning and the dresses. It was beautiful.”
On an entirely different note, Wang sent a line only he could pull off down the runway. It was inspired by—what else?—sneakers. “The techno fabrics, athleticism—I loved the barcodes,” Weber-Cleary says. “It couldn’t have been anyone else’s show, and that’s the sign of someone really arriving.” “He is just so much more of a designer now and the collection was just street cool,” Rubini adds. Always wearable and fun, von Furstenberg’s latest collection featured a ’70s-inspiration and plenty of prints, with models Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell walking the show. “It seemed very fresh, clean. Easy, breezy, I thought it was really appealing,” Weber-Cleary says.
