The Oscars are just sounding better and better: Actress, singer, and player of cups Anna Kendrick just confirmed that she will perform at the Academy Awards broadcast on Feb. 22.
The Pitch Perfect 2 star announced the big news on Twitter herself:
Kendrick, who was nominated for an Oscar back in 2010 for her memorable role in Up in the Air, is one of the many performers of the evening including Tim McGraw, Rita Ora, Jack Black, and Tegan & Sara.
We don’t have details on what to expect from her, but show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said Kendrick “will be performing something special that is sure to be an ‘only on the Oscars’ moment.” We just hope there are cups involved in some way!RELATED: Amy Schumer Makes Anna Kendrick Very Uncomfortable In Her First MTV Movie Awards Promo
Perhaps Kendrick will be part of a show stopping show tune number. She stars in the film adaptations of musicals Into the Woods and the upcoming The Last 5 Years (in theaters Feb.13)—and we can’t forget Pitch Perfect.
“I’ve been in love with musicals since I first saw Annie as a 5-year-old, and the rest is history,” she said in January when she served as guest editor of InStyle.com. “It’s been a dream to act and sing in movie musicals, as I grew up loving the genre.”
Presenters at this year’s ceremony include Scarlett Johansson, Octavia Spencer, Zoe Saldana, and Josh Hutcherson as well as Benedict Cumberbatch, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, and Marion Cotillard, People reports.
The 87th Academy Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will air live on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. ET.
