Brave Polar Temps with Luxe Lined Boots

There’s nothing as blissful as spotting a trend that fuses fashion and function. This time of year, it’s the flood of cozy-chic lined boots that we can’t get enough of. For designer Stuart Vevers’ first ready-to-wear collection at Coach (above, left), the designer, who has an impressive resume of work in the accessories industry, revived traditional warm-weather boots with shearling-lined, rubber-soled wedge styles.

At Tommy Hilfiger, models stormed a snow-scape runway in cushy shearling pairs cast in neutral tones and a few pops of color, like bordeaux.

Kate Bosworth‘s on-the-go look (below) is prime evidence that the trend traveled off the runway, which comes as no surprise. The actress’ look manages to evoke the same level of sophistication with a sense of down-to-earth polish—overall, the look is something every woman can recreate with a few key pieces.

What really makes Bosworth’s look stand out is that her footwear doesn’t steal the show. Let’s face it: sometimes, winter boots have a bad rap. They’re bulky, boring, and just…bad. Luckily, this winter there are exceptionally modern styles on the market. Pairs adorned with buckles, straps, and tassels are your best bet if you’re looking for a not-so-basic boot. You can also boost their appeal by seeking out a pair doused in an unexpected hue, like navy, camel, or hunter green.

Read on to shop winter boots that will have you shod for a wet walk to work and drinks with friends.
