A couple weeks ago Apple shared more than 300 new emoji options with us, and now Instagram is helping us spread more smiley-face love with the app’s newest capabilities. With an update that’s available starting today, April 27, users will be able to use their favorite emojis as hashtags.
Individual emojis, multiple consecutive emojis, and emoji-text combinations will all work as hashtags, which means they’ll be tappable in your captions and searchable on the explore page. (Gisele Bündchen, the number one celebrity emoji user according to Instagram, ought to be excited about the announcement!)

But wait, the good news doesn’t stop there. When trying out new emoji hashtags, don’t forget to test one of the three new filters: Lark, Reyes, or Juno. Lark is perfect for outdoor snaps, as it helps blues and greens shine through. If vintage pics are more your thing, Reyes will be your new go to. And for the instant glow, check out Juno which enhances whites.
Filters have been synonymous with Instagram since day one, so you can expect tons of new options in the near future to keep your uploads #flawless.
