What You Must Know About the Bachelor Finale and Next Season’s Major Twist

Another season finale of The Bachelor is over and another match has been made in heaven (i.e. the universe concocted by producers). Bachelor Chris Soules, aka Prince Farming, picked a lady and proposed—and she answered with a resounding “absolutely.

Soules asked Whitney Bischoff, a 29-year-old fertility nurse from Chicago, for her hand in marriage just moments after turning away the other finalist, Becca Tilley, a 25-year-old chiropractic assistant from San Diego. Although Tilley really liked Soules, she but could never actually say “I love you” to the handsome man from Iowa, while Whitney felt completely comfortable saying it. Plus, Tilley was honest about the fact that she was a little afraid to commit to a man she had only known for a few weeks. “I’m not going to pick up my life and move anywhere until I’m sure,” she told Soules’s mother on the hometown visit—not exactly an overwhelming declaration of love! Bischoff on the other hand was pretty much ready to move to Iowa in the season premiere.

So after breaking it off with Tilley in a freezing cold barn, Soules turned back to Whitney, who made the first big gesture. “Everything has boiled down to right here. … I love you so much, I really do, and I’m so scared right now,” she said. Then Soules said:

“From the moment that I met you, from the moment you got out of the limo … [I thought], ‘This woman is perfect for me.

’ Being able to have you here today and being able to have you here in Iowa, meeting my family and seeing how they reacted to you, there are so many things about you that I am excited about.” He added, “It’s not work for us. It’s natural. We both want the same thing, and it feels so right. It feels so perfect. And that’s what I want for the rest of my life. I love you.”

“Everything about this moment feels right,” he said, and then dropped down to one knee, presented a Neil Lane engagement ring, and asked her to marry him.

Following that special moment, the show shared some big news in the “After the Final Rose” special: For the first time, the next season of The Bachelorette will feature two main ladies instead of one. Britt Nilsson or Kaitlyn Bristowe (who was third runner up) are going to be Bachelorettes—but, of course, there is a twist. Host Chris Harrison says 25 men will have the “ultimate say about who they think would make the best wife” and only one woman will be in the finale handing out that final rose.

But, as of right now, the girls seem to be pretty pumped to share the throne. Nilsson posted a screen grab of her entrance with Bristowe last night on Instagram and wrote, “I just want to say I am honored and excited to come out holding hands with my friend & co-bachelorette beautiful @kaitlynbristowe”.

You can watch the men opt for #TeamBritt or #TeamKaitlyn on May 18. But in the meantime you can watch the ladies exercise their break up muscles by practicing on Jimmy Kimmel last night. Watch the funny clip below:
