When celebs hit the red carpet at any big event, the first question that inevitably pops into our mind is, “How do they manage to look so good?” Although the answer almost always involves a team of hairstylists, makeup artists, and assistants, one thing you wouldn’t think fits into the equation is carbs.
We grilled stars from Alessandra Ambrosio to Malin Akerman on if they indulged in carbs before the Golden Globes, and their answers may surprise you.PHOTOS: Inside the InStyle and Warner Bros. 2015 Golden Globes After-Party
Alessandra Ambrosio: For sure. Especially in the morning because this, at night it goes on. You want to make sure your first meal is substantial.
Laura Prepon: I had carbs last night. I mean, not many, but everything in moderation.
Who says celebs shun carbs? @traceeellisross makes a supper out of bread basket as my dinner date at #instylewbparty (in vintage #YSL)
Tracee Ellis Ross: Yeah actually Ariel [Foxman, InStyle‘s Editor in Chief] took a picture of me with a basket of bread in front of my face [above]. And so I just started eating the bread.
Jamie Chung: I ate peanut butter and jelly [for breakfast]. All I do is carbs. It’s so bad. And then for lunch I had a quiche and a bagel. And then we came here.

Brittany Snow: I did. I ate like a whole thing of carbs at the table, too. So I’m probably not a good poster child for the no carb thing!
Lea Michele: Oh yeah, I mean, nothing’s going to show for a couple weeks later, so it’s totally fine.
Viola Davis: No carbs!!!
Malin Akerman: I never do that [skip carbs]. Never do that when you’re going to be having champagne. I learned that when I was 16, so never again.
