In case you hadn’t heard, New York designers were all about layering their spring/summer 2015 designs with long vests, from knee-grazing waistcoasts to tough moto styles. But our favorite street style star Olivia Palermo was ahead of the curve, even before New York Fashion Week commenced. And since then, she has been snapped shuttling from one show to the next (crossing the Atlantic along the way) rocking her new favorite topper—long waistcoats.
It all started roughly two months when Palermo was captured out and about in N.Y.C., giving her graphic black-and-white Zara pleated dress a playful-yet-polished spin with a citrus orange Paul & Joe waistcoat (above, left). Flash forward to the first day of Fashion Week in early September when she spotted layering another graphic black-and-white frock (this one by Desigual) with a crisp white version (above, right).
The next week, she crossed the pond and stylishly took over London Fashion Week by storm. First, in a long fringed gray Nom De Mode vest that she paired with pleated Tibi culottes and a Chinti and Parker sweater (accessories include: Dior sunnies, a Capwell+Co necklace, and Gianvito Rossi ankle-strap pumps) (above, right). And more recently, a sharp wool one from Gestuz with contrasting lapels styled with a gray knit, a criss-cross Ylin skirt with nude lace-up sandals from her Aquazzura collection (above, left).
