What it was like: The spring/summer 2015 show kicked off with a line-up of remarkably tame looks. Tame by Versace standards, that is. Contrast white-stitched black blazers covered up crop tops, sporty perforated grid-like openwork overlaid teeny-tiny separates, and surprisingly easy (as in, not clingy) pieces were washed in the softest shades of pink and aqua.
But as this is Versace, after all, the final leg of the collection showed sparkly iridescent numbers with sheer skin-exposing panels and cut-outs that ran alongside graphic, angular lines that were reminiscent of the Greek key (a Versace trademark). Why we love this collection: We can always count on Donatella Versace to steer a sexy collection. Even though the silhouettes clung far less than in seasons’ past, the designer still delivered racy designs supercharged with high-shine panels that glittered and twinkled with every step. And these are the ones that we can envision on the likes of Rihanna, J.Lo or Rita Ora come awards season.
